Why should the beautiful die?

St. Mary’s All Souls Protestant Episcopal Church, Braddock

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church

Even fifteen years ago this church might have been rescued, but now it has become such a picturesque roofless ruin that the best thing might be to stabilize it, as is often done with ruined Gothic churches in Europe, and leave it as a tourist attraction for moody poetic types. According to the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, it was built in 1901, and the architect was Charles M. Bartberger, the younger of the two Charles Bartbergers.

Did you upload pictures of this church to Wikimedia Commons? I didn’t notice them while searching around there.

    1. We had intended to donate the color pictures there, but had not done it yet. Thank you for the prodding: there is now a category called “St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (Braddock, Pennsylvania).” The black-and-white versions are hosted on this site, but the CC0 public-domain donation applies to them as well, so they can be used in any way you like.

Thanks! I was just curious because the photos weren’t liking to Commons as usual.
