According to the registration form for the Saltsburg National Historic District, this house was built in the 1830s.

The porch, however, dates from the early twentieth century. It was done with unusually good taste, so that it looks like the porch the original builder would have added if the budget had permitted.

Saltsburg, where the Kiskiminetas River begins, is a sleepy little treasure-trove of architecture from Federal Style to Bank Classical. Much of the town is a National Historic District. This unassuming frame house is probably close to two hundred years old, dated “c. 1828–1835 (pre-1855)” in the National Register of Historic Places registration form for the Saltsburg Historic District, which describes it thus: “2 story, 5 bay original PA vernacular L-plan frame dwelling with wood siding, gable roof. Federal details including central door with sidelights and fanlight, and 2 bay wood porch.”
