Murdoch Farms is the plan in Squirrel Hill famous for millionaires’ mansions, but this is the middle-class corner of it. The houses here were also designed by some of our prominent architects, but on a more modest scale. We haven’t identified most of them yet, but we’ll point out the architects we know.

This fairy-tale Tudorish cottage was designed by Joseph Hoover, whose most famous work was the original Greater Pittsburgh International Airport.

This house was designed by Edward Crump, Jr., a developer who was also an architect. Many of his designs are found in this part of Squirrel Hill (probably including several of the unidentified houses on this street), and this one is typical of his tastefully picturesque sensibility.
