    • Architectural historians might call it “classical revival,” or they might say “Renaissance revival,” the Renaissance itself being a classical revival. The arch reminds us of ancient Roman architecture; the “Greek-key” tracery around the doorway and above the arch is a very popular classical ornament. One can easily imagine an Italian Renaissance nobleman specifying this for his town house.
